Spandrel Insulating Units
Its a common shared idea among many designers that when selected especially solar control glasses with high light transmission, the best colour harmony between the spandrel and vision glasses are provided with spandrel insulating units. There are two recommended approach in this regard.

Shadow-box Solutions
The shadow-box, which is made by matt dark coloured (usually black) cover is placed 50 mm at the back of the spandrel, provides generally an acceptible appearance harmony on the facade by giving the effect of a dark room. In shadow box solutions, clear internal glasses are used in insulating units. Shadow-box solutions on single-pane coated glass can be undesirable because of dust collection on coated side, condensation and pollution.

Opacified Spandrel Insulating Glasses
In question of solar control glasses with high light transmission, for not effecting from the light filtrations through the parapet gap and avoiding the total appearance of parapet cover, the third or forth surface of insulating glass unit can be manufactured as enameled. Even the standart of enamelled glass is black, any suitable RAL colour best matched with vision glasses can be selected The space between the sheets of insulating glass unit should be with the minimum permissible width, in order to resist the high temperature and/or temperature differences, the units should be manufactured with a composition of butyl and silicone.
